AI is Thirsty? Hume Councilors want more info

This week the Council have asked for information on the planned proposal for data centres. The main concern is the environmental impact to the local water supply. Hume has the majority of proposals and Cr Kurt has sounded the alarm with the council now asking for more scrutiny. I wrote a few months ago that one of these data centres house an Ai for medical Research and on the surface that all sounds fine but at what cost? [ INFO ]

Let’s go fishing

There has been a restocking program going on across Victoria and 2 of the lakes in the Hume area have benefited from this program. The 2 lakes that are close for locals are Roxburgh Park Lakes and Spavin Drive Lake in Sunbury. The program is to make fishing accessible without having to go far, although there are a total of 17 lakes to choose from if you get the bug to catch the “BIG ONE”. Trout Season starts 06th September [ INFO ]

Vertical farm in Tullamarine

This is more of a did you know? That the melbourne airport precinct will house a vertical farm? If you look under the surface of the area you’ll find all types of cool innovation. The company behind it is called Stacked Farm and they have been quietly building these farms all over australia and have reached into the U.S. My only concern is the water usage now with datacenters becoming a concern. Still it’s great to see innovation happen in our own backyard. [ INFO ]

Restaurant pick of the Week

3 blue ducks

This place always draws me back, with a master chef owner, and within the complex of URBNSURF in tullamarine, it provides a good vibes atmosphere. The sound of the rolling waves is a piece of the coast in suburbia. The food is always unpretentious and full of flavours that excite me every time. You might think something on the menu doesn’t sound like much, but when you bite into it, I am always pleasantly surprised. It just goes to show you how good the chefs are. I’m a fan of their tempura cauliflower burger with a lavender Fizz. [ INFO ]
