Hello Hume’ns (The awesome people of the Hume area).
This year Anzac Day falls on a Saturday. The usual events we see are either postponed or have been cancelled to make way for all of us to commemorate, remember, acknowledge and honour our veterans. The Hume area has a deep military history which is observed by the diverse community that call this area home. “Lest we Forget“

Strike action update
As you all well know, there is a strike action being taken by some council staff and it is effecting the rubbish collection of red bins. The Council have started a catch up service and still want those who’s bins have not been emptied to fill out the form and they will organise a catch up. The catch up service pinpoints certain areas that are effected the most and then alternates to the areas that missed out. Councillor Jarod Bell explains the details in this video and for the form to fill out if your bin gets missed.[ INFO ]
Council Events Calendar
We thought we would add events that are free or cost very little to attend. Check out the Council Calendar for this week [ INFO ]

Last man of Anzac
Alec Campbell (1899–2002) was Australia’s last surviving Gallipoli veteran. Enlisting at just 16 by falsifying his age, he served as a messenger and water carrier with the 15th Battalion during the 1915 campaign.
Despite contracting a fever that caused lifelong facial paralysis, Campbell led a prolific post-war life as a carpenter, union leader, and yachtsman, even earning an economics degree at age 50. Known as "The Last Anzac," he became a national symbol of endurance. Campbell passed away at 103, closing a living chapter of Australia’s military history. Alecs full story is here
