Hello Hume’ns (The awesome people of the Hume area).
With the weather not being so favourable in the early part of the weekend and with a bit of a dampener with petrol prices, there seems to be some things we can still do out in the community that doesn’t cost the earth. Theres a mixture of things this week in the lead up to Easter and it is a bit of a choose your own adventure. So whatever you choose have a great weekend and maybe I will see you out there. ( Psst I will definitely going to the Greek Night ) say “Hi” if you end up going as well?

Sunbury Music Festival
Move over AC/DC and Queen, the legacy of the Sunbury Music Festival lives on. This year it is back on the 18th of April. The Hume Council have released some of the acts who will be performing and tickets are now on sale. It’s events like these that create lasting memories and inspire a new generation of local artists. The Hume area has a rich and alive music scene and this Festival helps the scene. For more [ INFO ] including the lineup.

Sunbury Neighbourhood Day
If it’s one thing Sunbury is good at, it’s their sense of community, and it gives the rest of the Hume area a blueprint that we can all emulate. This Sunday they are holding the annual Neighbourhood Day. There are many local events to attend to get to know your neighbour, or why not just hold a small gathering yourself and invite the whole street? This is something I would like to see throughout the entire Hume area if I’m honest. [ INFO ]
Scar Hits 2 Million
Second chance Animal Rescue are those local heros who have done it again. Six years ago when the pandemic hit, SCAR set out to help families and pets in need. They ran an initiative to feed other peoples pets so families didn’t have to choose to feed themselves, or their pets and therefore someone would go without. The PET FOOD PANTRY was born and since then they have provided 2 million meals for pets in need. These awesome Humen’s are my local heroes, who fight a dark problem in our society and that is food insecurity, financial stress, and other hardships. They have and will always need dedicated volunteers who can help them with their mission. [ INFO ]

Ford Site Reborn
It’s finally happening!! The old ford site in Upfield / Campbellfield is going to be reborn as a Mixed use Bussiness park. The site is 60 hectares and will still house Fords engineering office aka Fords old head office. The plan is to have multiple logistics, manufacturing and advanced manufacturing companies in the park.
If history is anything to go by then the local area will see a boom in local employment. Cr Carly Moore seems to think so and with the amount of construction going on at the moment, like in Somerton then the future looks bright for us locals. [ INFO ] [ INFO ]

Greek Night at Forget Me Not
A guilty pleasure of mine is Greek Food and if I could understand the greek language I probably would get into the band as well. That being said my love of all things greek has me excited for this Saturday Night. This Greenvale hotspot not only has great food and atmosphere they know how to put on themed nights. These events usually sell out and bookings are required. Do yourself a favour and indulge in some Greek food and immerse yourself in some greek culture this weekend. [ INFO ]
