Another weekend with plenty to do and get involved with from dance party’s to markets. The Hume area does not stop for no one. Another weekend full of local heroes doing their thing helping others. What a great area this is!!

The Start of Stronger Dumping Fines

The Council this week, have started the process to strengthen the dumping punishments around the dumping issue we all face in our beautiful and awesome place. Stop the Dumpers!! [ INFO ]

Last Tree Mulching Day this weekend

The Council’s free tree mulching service is offered for the last time before it will be discontinued and goes to a collection and voucher service. [ INFO ]

The Circus is in Town

Eronis Circus has come back to Sunbury after eight years. They have a brand new show and have their grand opening this Friday. Eroni’s Circus, want to bring back that vintage circus charm for a modern day audience.

They draw inspiration from the classical circuses of yesteryear. Remember the beautiful and glamorous costuming, live original music, immaculately presented animals, traditional circus clowns, the smell of sawdust and popcorn in the air.

Broadmeadows pool declared safe

An incident during the week saw the Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre evacuated and 9 people taken to hospital for a medical assessment. [ INFO ]

Bohemian Indoor Market

The Industrial have teamed up with the Bulla Bohemian Market and have put together the first Indoor Market of it’s kind for the area. This is my pick for the event of the week. You get to buy some things for the soul, drink mulled wine (if that’s your thing), and listen to tunes only the boys at the industrial know how to play. [ INFO ]

Humes Local Heroes

Each week, it strikes me how generous this area is. I discovered that we all have a big heart and support those in need. Why I am blown away is, we have locals going above and beyond for others. The Hume area has a generous spirit, and nobody points that out. Thank you, Awesome Hume’ns.

Local Fight MND Events

Dunk a Mate Event Sunbury

MND as we all know, can strike anyone and that us victorians, are punching above our weight to fight this disease as we have all rallied around loved ones. The Dunk a Mate event on this Friday is aiming to raise $10K in honour of Geoff “Mate” Smalley.

Geoff is Brooke Smalley’s Dad who succumbed to the disease in 2022 and I wanted to give her shout out as a Local Hero. Not only is she holding the Dunk a Mate event but has also joined Daniher’s Drive, a four-day road trip through regional Victoria to raise awareness and vital funds for FightMND. Let’s Support Brooke and help her raise the 10k goal. [ INFO ]

Freeze a Councillor - CFA Ice Bucket Challenge - Kalkallo

What do get when a local Florist, a local CFA crew and a Local councillor get together? A group of local hero’s coming together to raise money for FightMND. This weekend we have the chance to cheer on these poor local Heros in the ice bucket challenge. Support these brave souls as they get iced up in winter, double whammy!!!

Fight MND Mini Indoor Market - Craigieburn

Another group of local Heroes have thought outside the box for an event and are holding an indoor market to raise money for MND. The “My First Gym” Indoor market is on this Saturday morning. They have started a fundraising page for anyone who can’t make it on the day, really anyone can donate. See you at the Market [ INFO ]

Friday 27th June

  • Lunch Break - Bush Tucker Walk at Banksia Gardens Learn about bush food and discover the sensory garden. This is something for the soul. [ INFO ]

  • Sunbury Indoor Market is back with all your faves from Sykotic Apparel to Cj delights (the fluffiest marshmallows) topped off with some live music from Miss GG [ INFO ]

  • Car Meet at the Old Ford Factory site, these boys are inviting anyone who want to show off their prized possession and also mingle without any hassle. No Hoon Policy applies !!! [ INFO ]

  • Looking for something a little less octane or beats orientated, then why not head down to the Games District and play their weekly Casual Commander board games. [ INFO ]

  • If Casual Commander is not your thing, the Games District guys also have a Pokemon League you can play. [ INFO ]
