Hume City Council has released its latest meeting wrap-up from Monday, 13 July 2026.

The council have announced they will start a new trial of waste bins attached to the current bin infrastructure to encourage more recycling. The baskets will be attached to bins throughout the Hume area and anyone can drop an empty bottle in their for someone else to recycle and they will get the 10c for their efforts. Hype Committee presents Sunburys best youth bands at the “Battle of The Bands” on the 08th of August. So all of you budding musicians out there, it’s time to get your rock on and make a noise that will piss the parents off and scare the cat. It’s your time to shine. [ INFO ]

I see stories all the time regarding big money snapping up large parcels of land. The main reasons are for data centres and big industrial projects. Lately I have noticed a trend of retirement village living being snapped up by big groups all cashed up as well. Greenvale seems to be the next hotspot for this type of money. [ Read Here ]

The new myki trial for the bus network will start being rolled out this week. Sunbury will be one of the first suburbs to have the trial, which will then be rolled out to other regions in the coming months. MORE INFO HERE

Music and dancing is integral to how we live, it forms who we are and our identity. The Broadmeadows Museum have curated a new exhibition taking you through the years, showcasing how we have changed over time, the dance moves and the genres of music that has shaped society to the present day. This exhibition is for everyone of all ages and all you movers and shakers. The exhibition will be opening on the 19th July click here for more.

This week a house in Attwood has been significantly damaged by fire. A lithium battery was the cause for this house fire in this case. With winter being a normal fire prone season anyway the fire brigade are pleading with everyone to be vigilant who have anything with lithium Ion batteries. They are asking that we come up with a strategy to charge the batteries without causing extra risk to your house or property. STAY SAFE! See the tips sheet HERE

Today, next door to pockets in Tullamarine, the place was ram raided and set on fire. The mainstream media reported on the event and reported that the neighbouring businesses were effected. This was not true!! Due to the reports by the media, Arthur then received a heap of cancellations because of the media reports. Arthur confirmed the fire did not effect them on social media but the damage has been done. It was only 2 days ago Arthur was inviting those who had begged him for money and doing it tuff to come down and he would give you a free meal if you’re doing it tuff so you wouldn’t go hungry. This Section is about informing everyone about how Data centres are causing a risk to our health and changing the area we all live in and love. I have been tracking what is going on for the whole area. Please let me know if you’d like me to write anything in particular.

In a new report there has been some number crunching and if you live near a data centre you could either lose your house or your house will be devalued by $35,000 dollars through no fault of your own. Imagine a neighbour moved in that people didn’t like and said your worth less than what you deserve! READ ARTICLE HERE

We have the Change.org campaign for opposing the Ford site data centre. There is also another way you can voice your opinion on opposing data centres. By writing to the submission to data centres that the goverment are conducting and have now extended the cut off date for submissions to the 16th of November 2026.

I found this post by accident and glad I did. We have until 28th of July 2026 to send in our objections to the data centre ( OLD FORD SITE IN CAMPBELLFIELD) in writing. Have a look at the post it has some sobering statistics that shows that if we let this one get through, that their data centre would be like living next to a bomb, an industrial desert with no water and houses that would be paying an extra 30% to 150% in power bills, and that’s if the data centre can even produce some of it’s own power. Oh by the way, those figures are only for 1 data centre, we have another 10 or so to come online or are already running in our area.
