Now with Socceroos having a win under their belt the aussies get to play USA. The socceroos have an axe to grind considering they were trash talked by them and there seems to be a beef from the last time they met in friendly. It promises to be a great game For the Councils festival of football click the link to see whats on.[ INFO ]

The council is investigating ways to help rates payers smooth out their bills. Council revealed at its 25th May meeting that more than 25,000 Hume households are behind on their rates bills, with outstanding payments amounting to more than $50 million. [ INFO ]

The north is growing and some forward thinkers have got together and are now asking for a new hospital while we can still plan for it. The land grab will be quick as our new suburbs start to pop up and put extra demand on out existing infrastructure. The Northern Councils Alliance wants the state government to buy land for the hospital in Melbourne’s outer north, with the Cloverton activity centre set to become home to 380,000 people. The race is on for who gets there first? The hospital or the new home owners? [ INFO ]

Sports Direct is a half boxing brand half sports retailer and they have announced that their new home will be in Broadmeadows Shopping Centre. No date has been given yet or any other details. Broadmeadows is a bit crowded for sports related retail shops. Looking at their site it seems we will have access to different brands. Watch this space. [ INFO ]

Promises Promises Promises, is how the saying goes. The Government promised that Carigieburn would get new trucks and a new place to call home. 10 years later, nothing has materialised into anything meaningful. A pledge of funding and a confirmation that it is in progress doesn’t put the fires out or help our dedicated firies.[ INFO ]

Last week I wrote about the wrestling craze that is sweeping the north. First it was Sunbury having a Death at a Funeral and now it will be the Broady Brawl having it’s turn, which will be like nothing you have ever seen. This is not your average local disagreement on the streets. It will be that full smashing, high flying, bone breaking action event which they call pro wrestling. Watch these young champs try to prove what it takes to brawl in Broady. [ INFO ]

To kick off the school holidays Pockets is holding a Party like no other. The up and coming 3 year old youtuber is sweeping the north with his infectious super hero humour and now will be on the decks and has invited batman to come. Harley is inviting everyone to come down and have a burger, a dance and to meet some super heros. This Family night is going to be Wild. What an event!!! Be there Friday June 26th. Oh, don’t forget there will be prizes for the best dancers and best dress up. Let’s Go!!! [ INFO ]

With School holidays coming, there is always the events that cost the earth and some that don’t. The council have put some events together for tighter budgets. Winter School Holiday Programs are running between Monday 29 June to Friday 10 July 2026, and there are an exciting range of activities suitable for ages. [ INFO ]
