The place is filled with Awesome Hume'ns

Hello Hume’ns (The awesome people of the Hume area).
This week shows why I do this newsletter. The Council recognised as they do every year the achievements of our locals and the dedication that they show to providing role models to our youth. Another reminder of how great the place really is if you look past the B.S. from the media. My view is the ratio of awesome hume’ns stories to media stories are tipped towards the awesome by far. Have a great weekend.

Hume City Council Community Awards

On August 14, Hume City Council hosted the 2025 Hume Community Awards to celebrate residents and groups who strengthen community pride and inclusivity. From nearly 150 nominations, seven recipients were awarded for outstanding contributions in categories including Academic Excellence, Community Service, and Advocacy. Mayor Jarrod Bell congratulated the winners for their exemplary leadership and dedication. The annual event, supported by Amazon Australia, also recognised every nominee for their positive impact on making Hume a vibrant and caring city. If it was up to me I would call it the ‘HUME AWESOME HUME’NS AWARDS’ [ INFO ]

Well now the wait is over and the Community Hospital will be offering new services including dialysis. For more click here [ INFO ]
The Hospital is Located at 121 Lygon Drive, Craigieburn
General hours: 8 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday

Forget Me Not Eatery

This is another hidden gem in plain site. Located in Greenvale as apart of a Plant Nursery. It’s a cafe by day and a restaurant by night, only on the weekends though. If you are looking for good food close by but don’t want fancy, this your new best spot. They also do fantastic authentic wood fired pizzas. For those of you who know the place know to book, so that they don’t miss out (been there before). My recommendation is any of the wood fired pizzas and the arincinis, oh, and they are licensed. See you there. [ INFO ]

Humes Local Heroes
Each week, it strikes me how generous this area is. I discovered that we all have a big heart and support those in need. Why I am blown away is, we have locals going above and beyond for others. The Hume area has a generous spirit, and nobody points that out until now. Thank you, Awesome Hume’ns.
In the next few weeks we will be doing some stories on the Community awards Recipients. These people deserve to be seen and heard because of all their tireless dedication and achievements.
